When buying this plant from a garden centre I estimate that it is approx 3 years of age. That's due to the size of the trunk and the cost too.
A family friend likes a windswept bonsai and wished she had one so I can imagine this would do the trick.
So here's my first attempt at the windswept look. There is 1 major root that is dominant (foreground in the image) and actually gives a gap between the soil and main root system. I think the should be kept above ground to heighten the visual trunk.
Well, it didn't take too long for new shoots to appear after a root cut, repot and wire which I am pleased I didn't kill it. Looking at the image I think I will give the branches a little more twisting to give it some character.
