Why am I selling them? A few years ago I (Ray Boardman, the artist) started to dabble and play with airbrush techniques and whoever saw the results said ‘Why don’t you sell them to make a few quid?’

I ignored this as I didn’t think they were good enough and I was only practicing but whatever I produced went and, they went quickly. So that got me thinking, are they really that good that people REALLY want them? So here they are and I continue to add to the collection.

How did I produce them? With limited airbrush equipment, patience and a steady hand. Oh, and seeing as I have no studio I produce the airbrush pictures outside. Yes, that’s right, outside. Now when you consider I live in the UK that is a big thing as the weather is so unpredictable. I  have to compensate for any slight breezes when the paint is being sprayed so that makes the picture even more of an artform.

Are they really original airbrush pictures? Every airbrush picture I produce is original and cannot be duplicated. All the airbrush pictures are initialled, dated (year only) and numbered. This number correlates to the number of airbrush pictures I have produced so far, so the higher the number, the newer the picture. There are no mass produced prints of these original airbrush pictures. They are all originals, I guarantee it.

What paint was used? The paint used for these airbrush pictures comes from FW Daler-Rowney Acrylic Artists Ink collection and the board used is extra smooth Bristol Board. The size is A3 or 42 x 29.7cm

What camera was used to take these snapshots? The airbrush pictures shown on the site are not as clear and the colours are not as vibrant as the originals. The camera used for the latest pictures (Airbrush 19 onwards) is a Nokia N95 5megapixel camera. Although this is a good camera for a mobile phone it is still not as good as a professional camera.

Please note: These airbrush pictures do not come with frames as this will keep the postage and packaging costs down. Also, any frame breakages occurring during transit could damage these originals and they cannot be duplicated exactly. Most of these pictures would look best in a small, black frame as this seems to enhance the colours on the airbrush picture.
